The Hackney Proms brings affordable live music, presented in a family-friendly way, to different venues in Hackney.

About

The Hackney Proms was formed in 2004 by music-loving Hackney residents wanting to make a contribution to Hackney’s cultural life by bringing high quality orchestral music to the borough. The first concerts, held on Sunday mornings at the Hackney Empire, combined coffee and croissants with a programme of classical music presented in a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere. The concerts later moved to Stoke Newington Town Hall Assembly Room where the range of music widen to include world, folk and jazz. In 2018 the baton of Artistic Director passed to Kate Conway, local violinist and music educator, who introduced various new venues, including Shoreditch Town Hall and The Round Chapel. The Hackney Proms prides itself in welcoming children, introducing them to many different musical genres, and providing facilities to occupy them while they listen.
